Brand: Bloc a main

Type: Cushion Cover

Not just a cushion cover. A piece of living textile history.

The Varuni is crafted using Double Ikat, one of the most technically demanding weaving traditions in the world, practised by master weavers in Telangana, Southern India. Every single thread is resist-dyed before weaving begins, creating patterns of striking symmetry that can only be achieved by hand. No machine can replicate it.

The result is a cushion cover that doesn't just sit on your sofa, it starts conversations.

The Details:

  • 100% handwoven cotton
  • Double Ikat weave, crafted in Telangana, India
  • Grey base with rich blue and red motifs
  • Patterned on both sides with matching piping
  • Wooden button closure, a beautiful artisanal finish
  • Size: 20x20 inches

Styling: Place against charcoal or cream upholstery to let the grey base breathe. Pair with plain blue or red cushions to echo its tones. Works beautifully in both minimalist modern homes and layered eclectic spaces.

Care: First wash, dry clean only. After that, gentle hand wash.

Why it's special: Named after Varuni, the goddess of waters, embodying balance and flow. Like her, this piece carries a quiet strength and movement in every thread.

Ikat is a centuries-old dyeing and weaving tradition found across India, with Telangana, Odisha, and Gujarat being its strongest roots.
The craft begins long before the loom; the yarn itself is tied and resist-dyed in intricate patterns, a process that demands precision and memory from the artisan.
Only after multiple rounds of tying, dyeing, drying, and re-tying do the threads finally reach the loom, where the pattern slowly reveals itself as the weaver works.
Depending on the complexity, a single Ikat piece can take anywhere from 7 days to over 30 days to complete.
The slight “feathering” of the motifs, a signature of genuine Ikat, is not an imperfection but proof of its handmade soul.
A textile that is both ancient and modern, effortless yet complex, Ikat remains one of India’s most iconic weaves.
